Jules Dusabe

One Rwandan Golf professional player has made it to the top 30 in the highly competitive Uganda Open tournament that kicked off yesterday.

Only 28-year old Jules Dusabe (zero handicap) survived the cut, as countrymen Ernest Ndayisenga and Oliver Munyaneza were kicked out of the 90 players.

Dusabe held on the edge holding 30th position at the 12th Uganda Open at Kitante Golf course in Kampala.

On day-one Dusabe collected par 79 and had seven over instead of the required two over to claim a cut among other regional players.

“The first day was hard because of the course- which is professional. I also played poorly because of the rains but I have a strategy of getting into the top ten without fear,” Dusabe said.

The 30 remaining players continued their course hustle today but most of them had a hard time teeing through the rainy day.

The winners will be selected to play in the last two days of the tourney currently dominated by Kenyans in top ten (with four players, followed by three Ugandan players.

In the meantime, old timers, former champions Dismas Indiza and Deo Akope made their statements on the course proving innate golf talent as they retained leads on day-one.

Only one Rwandan, Jean Baptiste Hakizimana has managed to scoop the lucrative tourney which gathers players from as far as South Africa and Portugal.
