Amavubi off to Tunis for CHAN Morocco 2018 Preps

Rwanda team will begin a ten-day camp in Tunisia on Tuesday before heading to Morocco for the CHAN final tournament on January 11

Rwanda Men’s national football team, Amavubi, left for Tunisia on New Year ahead of the 10-day training camp aimed at further putting them in good shape for the Total 2018 African Nations Championship scheduled to begin on January 13 in Morocco.

The 30-man delegation comprised of 23 players and 8 officials departed on Monday afternoon aboard Qatar Airways. They are expected to arrive in Tunis on Tuesday morning after spending night in Doha.

The team will hold their first training session on Tuesday evening in Tunis under the tutelage of head coach Antoine Hey who is also expected to link up with the team on Tuesday morning.

In Tunisia, Rwanda will play two friendly matches against Sudan on January 5 and Algeria on January 10, 2018 before heading to Morocco on January 11, 2018.

The CHAN tournament will take place between 12th January to 4th February 2018 in Morocco.

Rwanda is in group C alongside Libya, Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea. Group C will be based in Tangier City.

The quarterfinals will be played on the 27th and 28th January 2018 in all the cities.

These will be subsequently followed by the semifinals on 31st January, third place playoff match on 3rd February before the final on Sunday, 4th February 2018.

The CHAN tournament brings together 16 national teams composed of players playing in the national leagues of their respective countries.
