The Amavubi skipper Haruna Niyonzima has been missing from action due to a long term injury and looks like he will sit out for the rest of the season

Rwanda’s Amavubi skipper Haruna Niyonzima has been ruled out of the season due to a nagging knee injury sustained last month.

According to Tanzanian media, the Simba Sport Club midfielder has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to his ongoing battle with a knee injury.

Niyonzima revealed that his condition has not improved and the team’s doctors have asked him to take a rest from weekly action so that he completely recover.

“The truth is, I still have a problem with the knee and I have tried to get back to the field but I felt pain, now the doctors have advised me to relax for a while so that I can get well,” said Niyonzima.

The midfielder was not part of the Simba squad which participated in the recently concluded Mapinduzi Cup due to his current injuries.

This is the first season for Niyonzima with Simba, the team he joined from their arch rivals Yanga in the summer.

Niyonzima hasn’t played since the last 9th round of the league following a muscle problem.

Meanwhile, Yanga has climbed to second with 34 points, four adrift of leaders Simba and one ahead of third-placed Azam Fc.
