APR Fc forward Byiringiro Lague scored the opening goal for the military side when they faced AS Kigali on Friday at Stade de Kigali

Reigning champions APR FC blew away vital points against AS Kigali in the match day 26 of the Azam Rwanda Premier League as they were held to a 2-all draw to hurt their quest of retaining the league title.

The record 17-time champions secured the opening goal courtesy of a strike from Byiringiro Lague in the 27thminute before AS Kigali equalized in the 47th minute through Ndarusanze Jean Claude.

AS Kigali secured the lead with a second goal in the 84th minute before Muhadjiri Hakizimana saved APR FC from losing the game with an 88th minute equalizing goal.

With the draw, APR FC maintains the lead at the summit of the Azam Rwanda Premier League with 59 points, two points ahead of arch rivals Rayon Sports FC.

Should Rayon Sports win Sunday’s encounter against Police FC, they will leapfrog the military side on the top of the league, a feat which will boost their chances of winning the league title with four match days to go. AS Kigali remain ranked sixth with 34 points with 26 matches played so far.

Action continues on Saturday with AS Muhanga taking on SC Kiyovu at Stade Muhanga while Marines FC will be up against Gicumbi FC at Stade Umuganda on Saturday.

On Sunday, Espoir Fc hosts Bugesera FC in Rusizi, Mukura VS will be home ready to face Musanze FC at Stade Huye, Kirehe FC travels to Rubavu District to face Etincelles FC while Sunrise Fc hosts Amagaju Fc in Nyagatare, all on Sunday.
