Nigerian Star Wizikid to Perform at 11th East African Party in Kigali

Rwandans are known for taking serious New Year celebrations as they party from Christmas until early January – ushering in a new year.

To kick start 2020 in style, Nigerian born entertainer Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun alias Wizkid is rumoured to be performing live in Kigali at East African Party, a source revealed to KT Press.

According to the news reaching KT Press’ entertainment desk, the Joro hitmaker was contracted to headline the upcoming East African Party slated for January 1, 2020.

“I know they have contracted Wizkid as the main actor at the East African Party but am not eligible to reveal anything,” a source close to the organizing committee told KT Press.

KT Press contacted Joseph Mushyoma, the East African Promoters boss to confirm the news but promised to release a press communique after all details a confirmed.

“I hate rushing to release things am not sure of, that’s why am still negotiating some details with ministry of sports PS but trust me by the end of today, it will be out,” said Bubu.

This will be the second time for Wizkid to perform live in Rwanda since 2016 when he thrilled thousands of his fans at the beer festival and left them yearning for more.

Wizkid has been on tour around the world and has performed in several countries including Australia, London, Portugal, France, and Tanzania and recently mashed up Kampala.

Wizkid is well known to be a good stage performer and that’s why he always moves with over ten backup singers, sound engineer and his management team to make sure everything goes well as planned.

The singer has released top-charting hits both in Africa and Europe as well as collaborating with international superstars including Beyonce, Drake and Chris Brown.

Some of his hit tunes rocking local hangouts include Joro, Daddy Yo, Fever, Socco and Brown Skin girl featuring former Destiney’s child lead singer and Jayz’s wife Beyonce Knowles.

The annual party is organized by EAP (East African promoters) and always it takes place at Amahoro stadium parking yard but there’s a possibility that this time the venue might change to newly constructed Kigali Arena.

R&B sensational Meddy together with Riderman, Social Mula, Yvan Buravan and Bruce Melody were the main entertainers’ 10th edition of East African Party.

East African Party commenced in 2009 and ever since then, it has brought on local stage international recognized names in showbiz industry like Fuse ODG (Ghanaian based in UK), Radio and Weasel (Uganda), Kidumu (Burundi), Flavor (Nigeria), Julian Kanyomozi(Uganda), Amani (Kenya), HB Toxic (Uganda), Konshens (Jamaica), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), The Ben, Masamba, Cecile Kayirebwa, Meddy (Rwanda), Sheebah (Uganda), Alikiba (Tanzania) and Blu3 (Uganda), Big Furious (Burundi).
