Fresh from knocking Orapa United out of the CAF Confederation Cup, AS Kigali has opened their home campaign with a 2-0 victory over Mukura after a  dominant performance at Stade de Kigali.

AS Kigali were playing their first league game after the Rwanda Football Federation postponed their two games to allow them enough rest between their Confederation Cup games against Bostwana’s Orapa United.

Ortomal Alex put the home side up early, scoring his first goal of the season after just three minutes this Thursday, December 10. Shaban ‘Tchabalala’ Hussein drove home the second goal at the 40-minute mark to confirm Mukura second defeat in three games.

AS Kigali controlled the game for most of the second half before they were reduced to 10 men after Ortomal Alex saw red in the 73rd minute but held on to claim all three points.

Elsewhere, Bugesera were stunned at home as Police won 1-3.

It was the visitors who struck first after Justin Mico fired them ahead in the 10th minute before Martin Fabrice Twizerimana doubled the advantage after 33 minutes.

Raphael pulled one back for the hosts slotting home a penalty in the 52nd minute before Yusufu ‘Lule’ Munyakazi converted from spot for Police’s third goal.

Meanwhile, Ewing Ndagijimana struck twice as Musanze claimed a 3-1 victory over Etincelles at Umuganda Stadium.

In Muhanga, points were shared after a goalless draw between AS Muhanga and Gorilla.

Today, reigning champions APR will also open their home campaign days after being knocked out of the CAF Champions League by Gor Mahia.

They face Kiyovu SC at Stade de Kigali knowing anything less than a victory will not be accepted by the fans who are still angry after the club’s early Champions League exit.

Tomorrow’s second game will see Marine face Sunrise at Umuganda Stadium.

Meanwhile, two matchdays 3 games Espoir – Rayon Sports and Rutsiro-Gasogi have been postponed as both Rayon Sports and Rutsiro were put into isolation after they recorded their first COVID-19 positive case.
