In spite of COVID-19 pressure on economy and social lifestyles, the last weekend of February 2021 was all smiles for Rwandans who won prizes in the ongoing Bank of Kigali (BK) Mastercard promotion.

The promotion dubbed Mu Munyenga na Mastercard was launched on December 14, 2020 with an aim to promote the cashless economy in Rwanda through use of the new BK Mastercard credit and debit card.

This weekend on the Zoom In Show the Bank of Kigali presented second batch of prizes to the winners in Mu Munyenga na Mastercard promotion who were selected as loyal users.

The promotion is open to any existing and new Bank of Kigali customer who is a Mastercard debit or credit card owner who stand chances of winning prizes including shopping vouchers, cashback (repay of cash used), motorcycles, laptops and a new Mahindra KUV 100 NXT- as the grand prize.

Eligible winners of these prizes should spend at least Rwf25,000 in a single transaction with their Mastercard either through Point of Sale (POS) or online payments.

Everyone who qualifies is automatically entered into a weekly raffle where they could win cashback on their cards and shopping vouchers from Simba or Sawa City but also remain eligible for the monthly prizes in the form of motorbikes and laptops.

The grand prize, a new Mahindra KUV 100 NXT Car will be given away at the end of the promotion which has been extended to March 5, 2021.

This Saturday February 27 witnessed two more BK clients win a motorbike each.

One of the winners, John Baptist Nkuranga, said he uses the BK Mastercard as a daily routine in his business transactions and he was very excited.

“I thought I was being conned when I was told that I had won in the BK lottery. I told them that I am not in any lottery and I used the back door to inquire from BK officials if this was true,” Nkuranga said, adding that he only believed he was a winner after BK officials confirmed.

The second winner, Huguette Uwimana said she learnt of the promotion when she was depositing money at a BK counter, so she decided to shift from direct deposit to using the BK Mastercard to do her normal deposits.

“Bank of Kigali offers very good service. I am happy to be one of the winners and I am just overwhelmed,” she said.

Uwimana said that she looks forward to using the BK Mastercard cashless services to winning the grand prize.

Tharcissie Byukusenge, BK official in-charge of service cards used the same opportunity to invite more Rwandans to join the promotion by using a BK Mastercard to stand a chance to win the grand prize.

“Keep using your BK Mastercard, you could be the next winner of the many prizes in stock,” Byukusenge said.

Meanwhile, the promotion has so far awarded three motorcycles, eight laptops, eighty(80) shopping vouchers worth Rwf 4 million and 60 cash backs worth Rwf 3.3 Million.
