21st Commemoration: Pictorial

In Rwanda, the Flame of Remembrance has been lit by President Paul Kagame and the First Lady to mark the 21st commemoration of the Genocide against Tutsi which claimed over a million lives in 1994.

The flame will burn for 100 days during this period Rwandans across the country and world will reflect on the period through which the gruesome massacres occurred from April 7 until June 4 1994.

Kagame who between 1990-1994 commanded the Rwanda Patriotic Army, then a rebel group, stopped the genocide and defeated the genocide regime.
