Italian Air Force Chief in Rwanda

The Italian Air Force Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Enzo Vecciarelli (Middle) is currently in Rwanda on a two-day official visit.

Upon his arrival today accompanied by four other Italian military officials, the delegation met with Chief of Defence Staff of RDF Gen Patrick Nyamvumba. Their discussions centered on bilateral cooperation.

Brig Gen Ferdinand Safari, in charge of strategic planning for Ministry of Defence – MINADEF said that the visit reflects good partnership of Rwanda and Italy.

“Partnership of our countries in the military domain  has always been good. Today, the discussions centered on furthering partnership in air force, “he said.

Brig Gen Safari also said that the visit comes after the Air Force Chief of Staff of Rwanda visited their country last year.

On the first day of his visit, Lt. Gen. Vecciarelli and his delegation visited Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre where to pay respect to the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.

The delegation is scheduled to visit several touristic sites of Rwanda including the volcano national park for gorilla trekking on July 26th.
