Latest development indicates that RwandAir, the national carrier is launching consultancy activities to study and enter the Israeli market.

According to an invitation to tender available on carrier’s website, the company “wishes to invite qualifying bidders to be RwandAir GSA in Israel.”

GSA stands for General Sales Agent, a sales representative for an airline in a specific country or region. The company handles the establishment of operations in the airline business in a given market.

According to Mindpearl, a company in this business, General Sales Agents “are the airline’s representatives in those countries into which they do not actually operate an aircraft, but they do generate sales.”

Since February 2nd 2018, a complete set of bidding Documents in English are obtained at RwandAir Head Office located at Kigali International Airport for those interested in this bid.

“Bids must be delivered before 10:30 AM (Rwanda local time) 3rd March 2018,” reads part of the Invitation for tender.

RwandAir is one of the fastest growing airlines on the continent reaching out to more than twenty cities in Western, Central, Eastern and Southern Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Europe.

Latest milestone in the RwandAir business was the launch of its regional hub in Benin to effectively serve Western and Central Africa in August last year.

Meanwhile, RwandAir is familiar with GSA tenders.

In June last year, it appointed Network Airline Services as its cargo General Sales Agent (GSA) covering the UK market, just after its inaugural direct flight Kigali – London.

Network Airline Services is an international air cargo services specialist which provides Air cargo sales, support services management especially developing client’s services identifying specific opportunities in routes, markets and fleet.

Flight Directors were also appointed early last year to handle passenger sales in the UK, according to Former RwandAir Director of Global Sales Operations Alex Buterere.
