A statement released by the Higher Education Council (HEC) today has directed universities to suspend evening classes and find other alternatives in regard to respect of Covid-19 preventive measures.
“Depending on the cabinet meeting resolution of increasing curfew to prevent the spread of Covid-19 on 14th December 2020, High Education Council (HEC) informs all universities that evening classes have been suspended in a bid to respect the adjusted curfew hours,” the statement from HEC reads.
“Universities are encouraged to find other alternatives of continuing with those classes without inconveniencing the Covid-19 preventive measures including shifting to weekend classes or halting the evening programs, if there is no other alternative,” the statement further reads.
HEC said that universities will be informed when evening classes would be allowed to reopen.
Evening programs in universities have been suspended after schools were closed for eight months to prevent the spread of the pandemic in March, and later reopened in November 2020.
