Nzamwita, Rwemalika, Rurangirwa Submit bids for FA Presidency

Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) incumbent president Vincent Nzamwita and Felicite Rwemalika, a FERWAFA Executive Committee member in charge of women football who is also the vice president of Rwanda Olympic committee and former referee Rurangirwa Louis have submitted their bids to run for the federation top job.

The elections are scheduled for December 30, 2017.

Nzamwita, who is seeking a second term, submitted his papers before the FERWAFA Electoral Commission, at the federation’s headquarters in Remera, on Tuesday at 12:30.

At 16:15, Rwemalika, represented by Gasabo United president Raoul Gisanura, presented her candidature, beating the deadline by forty five minutes.

At 16:59, former referee Louis Rurangirwa presented his bid to the FERWAFA Electoral Commission seeking the top seat, beating the deadline by one minute.

Nzamwita has been president of Rwandan football governing body since January 2014 and widely expected to win a second term.

With the today (Tuesday) being the deadline, the FERWAFA Electoral Commission will assess the nomination papers for each candidate between November 29 to December 1, 2017.

Then from December 8, they will receive petitions and hear appeals if any before the official declaration of candidates for the FERWAFA presidency is done on December 11.

Declared Candidates will then start officialcampaigning which will last until December 29, 2017 before the elections are held on December 30 in an elective FERWAFA general assembly.

The newly elected Ferwafa president and his Executive Committee will serve a four-year term from 2018 to 2021.
