Businessman Paul Muvunyi has been elected as new chairman of Azam Rwanda Premier League club Rayon Sports Fc.
In polls held on Sunday at Sports View Hotel in Kicukiro, Muvunyi was elected unopposed as out-going chairman Gacinya Chance Denys opted not to contest for the seat.
The Rayon Sports General Assembly voted Gacinya as Vice President, Itangishaka Bernard as club’s Chief Executive Officer while Muhire Jean Paul was voted as treasurer. Advisors voted include; Dr. Emile Rwagacondo and Ngarambe Charles.
In his acceptance speech, Muvunyi said he will ensure that Rayon Sports Fc ‘gets back to where it belonged’. He also promised to secure a bus for the Rayon Sports Fc.
He blamed the continued misunderstandings between the club and their sponsor SKOL Brewery Ltd on the sponsor.
“We will sit with SKOL Brewely Ltd and review the current contract because we deserve more from them compared to what they are gaining from the market,” added Muvunyi.
Muvunyi returns to the blues as their chairman for the second time after a two-year stint between 2005 to 2007,where the club registered different milestones.
Muvunyi also hailed the out-going chairman Gacinya for his good work during his tenure when the club won the 2016 Peace Cup title and 2016/17 Azam Rwanda Premier League title.
