Coach Masoud Djuma has assumed the head coaching role at Tanzanian side Simba SC

Former Rayon Sports coach Masoud Djuma has taken over the coaching roles of at Tanzanian giants CS Simba following the sacking of head coach Joseph Omog after following an early exit in this season’s Azam Sports Federation Cup.

Masoud will manage his first game as Simba head coach on Saturday when they take on Ndanda Fc in the Mainland Premier League in Mtwara.

The Burundian took over Simba’s technical bench after the outfit’s management terminated the contract of the team’s head coach Joseph Omog, last weekend.

Simba, who were the Azam Sports Federation Cup’s defending champions, suffered a 4-3 defeat to National Second Division League’s outfit of Green Warriors in the second round of the tournament.

Speaking to Tanzanian media, Djuma revealed he is ready for the new challenge, which he described as surprise but achievable.

He said he has enough experience to guide the team to new heights as he had experience working with star studded sides.

“I know it’s a big challenge but I am ready for it and it’s my hope that the players will respond to my tactics, the period I have been here has helped me to observe and evaluate the players and I expect good results,” he revealed.

He further said he will need time to bring his playing tactics to work.

“People should not expect radical changes in the way the team plays, it takes time for players to grasp new method but I am confident they will respond to my instructions,” he disclosed.

Currently, Simba SC enjoys the driver’s seat in the Mainland Premier League with 23 points, thanks to a better goal difference the side has over second placed Azam Fc.

However, should Simba drop points then they will be dropping to the third place as there are two points separating them with third placed Yanga who will be away to Mbao Fc in Mwanza the following day.

Masudi has been working as Omog’s assistant. Masoud joined Rayon in November 2015 as assistant coach under Belgian tactician Ivan Minneart, who ended his ties with the club in February 2016 and the Burundian took over as interim head coach until the end of the season guiding them to a league title.
