The Rwanda National Basketball League returns on Friday night at Amahoro Indoor stadium with two matches which will leave fans thrilled.

The opening game scheduled for 7pm will pit UGB BBC against reigning champions REG BBC before former champions Espoir BBC face APR BBC in a tricky encounter due at 9pm.

Fans have to part ways with Rwf. 3000 (VIP) and Rwf. 1000 for the main tribune.

Defending champions REG who have had a clean sheet in three matches with six points played so far stands favourite to thrash UGB if their recent form is anything to go by.

Coach Cyrille Kalima said on Friday that his aim is to maintain a winning streak as they seek to retain the title. “We are ready for today’s (Friday) game and we will be aiming for a win against UGB,” added Kalima.

REG has a clean sheet Rusizi BBC, IPRC-South and APR BBC while UGB managed a win against IPRC-Kigali but lost to Patriots BBC and Espoir BBC respectively.

After three games, REG remain the only unbeaten side in the league this season with a maximum six points, one point ahead of second-placed IPRC- South and Patriots, who are in third.

Rwanda international Kami Kabange, the 2017 MVP, has been pivotal for REG since the start of the season, a feat which has seen him score a combined 67 points, including 32 points against IPRC-South and 35 against struggling Rusizi.

REG will represent the country at the 2018 FIBA Africa Zone 5 Club Championships, making their debut at the annual regional competition, which was last won by a Rwandan side (Espoir) in 2012.

The second game of the night will pit former league champions Espoir and APR. Each side has managed a win in two and three matches played this season respectively.

Both sides are regarded as the country’s most successful basketball clubs with a combined 12 league titles between them, APR has won the league 7 times while Espoir have won 5.

Since the season started early this month, Espoir has only one win UGB but lost to the remaining two against IPRC-South and Patriots BBC.

On the other hand, APR BBC has also won one game against IPRC-Kigali and lost the other against REG.
