Rwandan duo of striker Kagere Haruna and Niyonzima Haruna guided Simba SC to the 2018/19 Tanzanian League title after defeating Singinda United 2-0 on Tuesday.
Meddie Kagere and John Rafael Bocco struck two goals to drive Simba SC to 91 points at the summit of the Premier League table and claim the league title.
Both Kagere and Haruna featured in Tuesday game which Simba needed a only one point after defeating Ndanda FC 2-0 on Sunday.
With three matches left to the end of the season, Simba’s closest challengers Young Africans have only two remaining matches to climax their season.
Having already notched 23 goals, Kagere now threatens the 26-goal record set by Mohamed Hussein ‘Mmachinga’ some years back.
Kagere’s 23rd goal of the season has put him seven goals clear as far as the season’s chase for the Golden Boot race is concerned.
Furthermore, Kagere has shattered last season’s 20-goal Mainland Premier League record which was being held by his striking partner Emmanuel Okwi.
