COVID-19 in Numbers: 72 Deaths, 74 New Cases, 7,817 Total Cases

Seven is the most common number that dominated new statistics released by the Ministry of Health on Boxing Day as the country registered 74 new cases and 3 new deaths, taking the total number of deaths since March to 72 and the total cases registered since the outbreak to 7,817.

The latest victims are two men aged 89 and 71 in Kigali and 61 year old in Rusizi district who succumbed to virus in what is proving to be the deadliest week since the pandemic surfaced in Rwanda, with 13 deaths so far- the highest number to be registered in less than 7 days.

Of the new cases, Kigali registered 37, Gakenke: 14, Rubavu: 9, Gicumbi: 7, Muhanga: 2, Huye: 2, Musanze: 1, Rusizi: 1 and Gisagara: 1. Recovered cases are now 6,227 or 79 .6 percent while Active Cases 1,518. The country has so far conducted 714, 431 tests.

Globally, New Coronavirus Cases have reached 80,676,072 while deaths are now 1,764,190 and 56,894,124 recoveries. USA, India, Brazil, Russia and France are the top five most hit countries.
