Mohamed Lamine Bayo and Naby Keita were on the scoresheet as Guinea handed Rwanda a 2-0 defeat in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Amahoro Stadium on Thursday.

Rwanda head coach Mashami Vincent fielded a young side without many of his senior players while Kaba Diawara welcomed Naby Keita into the starting lineup for Guinea’s final warm up game ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Syli Nationale’s opener came in the 26th minute when Mohamed Lamine Bayo headed home from a close range after a corner kick was poorly defended by Rwanda.

Liverpool’s Naby Keita doubled their lead in the 35th minute. After being played from the left, the midfielder took one touch and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper.

In the second half both teams made several changes and Rwanda came back stronger but there was little in terms threatening moments.

Guinea who were placed in B of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nation in Cameroon, play Malawi on January 10 then Senegal, Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, Rwanda who have not qualified for the continental showcase since 2004, not meet again until March they start their qualifying campaign for the 2023 Africa Nations Championship.
