On 20 November 2020; the IHS Rwanda Limited and Imbuto Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to provide scholarships for 150 brilliant students from vulnerable backgrounds. Worth USD 45,000, the scholarship will be awarded as USD 300 to each student in a boarding school, for the academic year of 2020-2021.
The sponsorship is part of the ‘Edified Generation,’ a scholarship programme initiated by Imbuto Foundation in 2002 to financially support bright students from economically vulnerable backgrounds in their pursuit of education. This programme currently supports up to 694 secondary students from 102 secondary schools across the country. Through an annual holiday camp, the scholars are equipped with life skills to complement their education, helping them to become integral citizens.
Since 2015, IHS has provided 400 scholarships under this partnership with Imbuto Foundation.
To-date, 9,601 annual scholarships have been provided, to both male and female secondary students, under the Edified Generation scholarships programme.
